Amazon just cornered the market on e-reading, and will sell tons of the Fires because it's only 200 bucks. I will probably buy one just to read magazines and comics.

I don't think amazon thinks this is the iPad killer or anything. Heck, there is no 3g... but, what it does do is pretty much shaft barnes & noble, especially when you consider the 3 new e-ink devices they announced, one starting at 80 bucks.

If you are into e-reading, Amazon just made a huge splash in that market, and B&N, Sony, Kobo, PocketBook, etc are in trouble.

Advance speculation was that the Kindle Fire was going to be sold for $249. B&N sent out a marketing email in the middle of the night dropping their Nook Color price from $249 to $224. Then Amazon announces at $199 this morning. Hilarious. I'll probably get one for my wife because sometimes one iPad isn't enough but I don't think we need another tablet enough to drop another $500+. $200 is just about perfect for a 2nd e-reader / email / internet toy.
